October 30, 2023, (New York, NY) – New York hosted the 20th Annual Lucie Awards in a gala black-tie ceremony
and awards program this evening, at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall. The Lucies, the world’s most esteemed
photography awards ceremony, honors the greatest achievements in the field, presenting awards as Achievement in
Fine Art, and Documentary, as well as excellence in several industry support categories, ranging from publishing to
exhibition.

“Tonight, as we have for twenty years, we pay tribute to the achievements of the winners and honorees whose
extraordinary work brings so much meaning to our community and the world. We are thrilled to return to Zankel Hall
at Carnegie Hall in New York, and to be with friends and colleagues, as we spotlight these achievements,” stated
Hossein Farmani, founder, of The Lucie Awards. Farmani continues, “The Lucie Awards have become an anticipated
annual event that celebrates our industry, the individuals, and our community. Tonight we gathered to honor some of
the most admired and talented individuals in the field.”

The list of the 2023 HONOREES and PRESENTERS:

Raymond Depardon (unable to attend) received the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by David Burnett,
photographer and Lucie Award Honoree for Achievement in Photojournalism
Jo Ann Callis for Achievement in Fine Art, presented by Rose Shoshana, Founder of Rose Gallery
Carol Guzy for Achievement in Photojournalism, presented by Scott McKiernan, Zuma Press Editor and Founder
Donald Miralle for Achievement in Sports, presented by Brad Smith, VP of Photography for the WWE.
Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier will receive the Humanitarian Award, presented by Katie Couric, awardwinning
journalist and co-founder of Katie Couric Media
Antwaun Sargent will receive the Spotlight/Visionary Award, presented by Jia Jia Fei, digital strategist for the art
world
Jamel Shabazz for Achievement in Documentary, presented by Peter W. Kunhardt, Jr., Director of the Gordon Parks
Foundation
Ming Smith for Achievement in Portraiture, presented by Oluremi Onabanjo, The Peter Schub Associate Curator of
