Shaughn Crawford

Shaughn Crawford was born in Forest Grove, Oregon. He became curious about the nature of human behavior at an early age; always observing people and noticing their subtleties. He moved from Oregon to Los Angeles, and harvested a curiosity about the different cultures of both places. His birthplace, portrayed by rural, simplistic, natural beauty and his upbringing in a textured, full city, characterizes his work. He strives to capture the tension between the existence of the organic and formalistic world. Shaughn received his Master’s in Photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He began his photographic career as a photo assistant to legendary photographers, Art Streiber and Mark Seliger.

As Shaughn has continued to sculpt his photographic eye, he endeavors to create authentic and focused photographs of captivating subjects. Shaughn’s work can be seen in several notable publications including Rolling Stone, GQ and SF Magazine as well as recent campaigns with 7-‐11 and Bacardi. He maintains his work in advertisements, album artwork, music videos, editorials and documentary projects. Shaughn resides in Culver City with his wife Saira and their two pugs, Yoda and Penny.
