Los Angelenos have been coming out in full force for photography event after event all over the City of Angels.We have been thrilled with the photography exhibitions, projections and events taking over this great city. Here's the good news, there's still TONS to do before we bid April goodbye. Incredible collaborations are happening in the next 10 days, get out and see what's happening.

For starters tonight, head over to KGB gallery for a panel conversation on "Techniques and Technologies that are Changing the Face of Contemporary Photography" Artist Panel Moderated By Shana Nys Dambrot featuring Seda Baghdasarian, Christine Caldwell, Claudia Kunin, Sylvie Cogranne and Gwen Samuels.

KGB Studios is located at 1640 North Spring Street opposited of State Historic Park (near Chinatown). It's also the last night to see the exhibition "Beyond the Image" curated by Dale Youngman.

Sunday, April 22 (2 - 4 p.m.) - DiYfO (do-it-yourself. for others) will present another crafter-noon teaching you how to make a Tabletop Photo Studio. Drinks, give-aways and a great way to meet fellow emerging photographers. Cost: $22.00 (includes supplies and drinks, and all proceeds benefit our Youth Program - SNAPSHOP! Tuesday, April 24 (7 - 10 p.m.): Pro'jekt LA Part Four and the final installment of our Projection series. Curator Jessie Cowan presents "'Take Me There' Photography Commenting on The Future of Technology" featuring the photographs of Matt Carr, Virginia Woods-Jack, Thomas Jackson, Jessica Miller, Tony Law, Sara Todd and Aaron Farley. Wednesday, April 25 (6:30 - 8 p.m.)
Annenberg Space for Photogaphy + MOPLA Present: Iris Nights Lecture Series with Photographer Doug Rickard. Join us as Doug Rickard discusses his most recent series, A New American Picture, which consists of color photographs of American street scenes located using the internet tool Google Street View. Wednesday, April 25 (7 - 10 p.m.) - PrettyBird, Union Editorial and Kent Collective join forces to present ON | Pause - Photography in the Creative Work Spaces of Commericial Production Houses. For the fourth year in a row, Kent Collective and Prettybird have collaborated to present the work of PrettyBird photographers during MOPLA. This one will not disappoint!

Thursday, April 26 (7 - 10 p.m.) - Opening reception for the MOPLA+Smasbox Group show will feature over 40 photographers. Get there early because this event will definitely be packed with GREAT photography juried by Jen Jenkins (Giant Artists), Dee DeLara (Smashbox) and Jill Greenberg (Photographer). Yello! photobooth is always super fun and creative. Libations pouring all evening. Free but consider making a donation at the door to our at-risk Youth Program SNAPSHOP! and walk away with a tote bag, and be entered into a raffle that boasts endless Photography-related goodies from Tenba, Moab, Adobe and more!

Friday, April 27 (8 p.m. - 1 a.m.)
- KCRW, Stones Throw Records and Lucie Foundation present An Evening of Photography + Music. We're thrilled to present this evening featuring the photography of B+, Eric Coleman, Joao Canziani and Viviane Oh, coupled with the sounds of Madlib (DJ) and Peanut Butter Wolf (VJ) + live performances by Jonti, Gary Wilson and Jonwayne. If you pick one MOPLA event to attend, this would be it.

Also showcasing a special projection by Los Angeles Times, Part One of Pro'jekt LA (which was rained out from opening night of MOPLA) and a preview of the Create:Fixate SNAP Flash All Photography Show.

See and bid on the MOPLA silent auction to benefit SNAPSHOP! (our youth program) with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Pablove Shutterbugs, an incredible program that brings photography to children living with cancer. Amazing companies have donated product for the auction including Malin + Goetz, Crumpler, Tieks by Gabrieli, Stones Throw Records and more!

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR THE APA/LUCIE FOUNDATION PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP GRANT OF $5000.00 - SUBMIT BY APRIL 30, 2012 FOR CONSIDERATION.

We are delighted to present another opportunity for professional photographers to fund a new project, or complete one through the APA/Lucie Foundation's Professional Scholarship Grant of $5,000.00. The deadline to submit is April 30, 2012. The recipient is presented with the grant onstage at the forthcoming Lucie Awards in October 2012.
