MOPLA is rolling into it's second week that started with a sold out talk by Photographer and Filmmaker Lauren Greenfield, presented by the New York Film Academy with the support of the Canon. There's much to do and see photographically and here are highlights and events we're sure you don't want to miss, starting this evening with the LA Times.



Saturday, April 14 - Sam Comen's Central Avenue:A Community Album is an unprecedented look ito the history of Central Avenue with photographs provided by surrounding residents contrasted with new works made by Sam Comen. We're excited to see this come together. Opening reception on Saturday, April 14 from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 14: Beyond the Image: Techniques and Technologies That Are Changing the Face of Contemporary Phoography from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m., an artist reception for Seda Bagahdasarian, Christine Caldwell, Claudia Kunin, Gwen Samuels and Sylvia Cogranne, curated by Dale Youngman

KGB STUDIOS is located at 1640 North Spring St. opposite the State Historic Park
( near Chinatown).





Tuesday, April 17
- Part three of Pro'jekt LA at the Standard Hotel in Hollywood. This projection event is getting some nice buzz on the internet. Free attendance however RSVP is required to projektla3@monthofphotography.com.

A veritable who's who in photography have submitted their works to the International Photography Awards (our sister-effort) over the last nine years, vying for the Annual Lucie Awards trophy, the cash prizes and the title of International Photographer of the Year. This year marks our tenth Anniversary and we've got a lot of GREAT ways in which we are going to be promoting the winning works in 2012 and beyond. If you're an early bird, we'll take 10% off your submission fees if you submit by April 30, 2012.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR THE APA/LUCIE FOUNDATION PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP GRANT OF $5000.00 - SUBMIT BY APRIL 30, 2012 FOR CONSIDERATION.

We are delighted to present another opportunity for professional photographers to fund a new project, or complete one through the APA/Lucie Foundation's Professional Scholarship Grant of $5,000.00. The deadline to submit is April 30, 2012. The recipient is presented with the grant onstage at the forthcoming Lucie Awards in October 2012.
