Celebrating its 10th year in 2012, the International Photography Awards (IPA) is the Lucie Foundation's sister effort It is an annual juried competition that invites all professional and non-professional photographers worldwide to submit their photographic work for consideration of the following titles - The International Photographer of the Year, The Discovery of the Year and the Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year. These top honors are announced at the annual Lucie Awards gala ceremony, where the winners are announced and each is presented with the coveted Lucie Statue and a cash prize.
Professional and emerging photographers are invited to submit their work for juried consideration in 10 distinct categories (professionals and non-professionals compete separately). The winners in each major category are selected as finalists, and are eligible for over $20,000 in cash prizes.
Finalists will be invited to The Lucie Awards in Los Angeles, and the winners will be announced, live, at the event, and presented with a Lucie statue, and other honors. Winning work is also displayed in the Best of Show exhibition, which will open during Lucie Week, and then travel internationally. Finally, winning work is printed in the IPA Annual.
